Hi Audrey, how have you found the opening few weeks of summer league? Has it been Mayhem?

Well no team wants to be sitting at the bottom of the table, but you wouldn't be able to tell that this

is where we stand by looking at us play. We've had tough games, but I think we came together as a

team a couple weeks back against Midges.

 

As the only female captain do you feel you have a point to prove to represent your gender? What do you think about female representation in the league in general?

When it came to the draft, I picked my first girl way before any other team. I do think it has something to do with being the only female captain and knowing just how good our girls are in Glasgow, and how valuable it is to have great girls when playing mixed. It's been a fantastic first season for Glasgow Ultimate's ladies, and obviously I would have wanted more girls to sign up for the league. But I'm happy with what I am seeing on the pitch and how the female players are getting involved.

 

Tell us about your team selection, did you have any particular style of play in mind?

I wanted teammates I knew would play hard on the pitch, but who were also there to enjoy themselves. I wanted a team in which every player would have a role to play, and did not want anyone who'd feel like they should get the disc one pass out of two. We often have 5-6 players touching the disc before a goal and that's exactly what I wanted to see.

 

And how is the team coming together? Is your master plan taking shape or are you struggling for consistency?

We all want more wins, obviously. But the fact that we had 11 players showing up last week proves that Mayhem isn't about to give up. And then we'll just take over the world.

 

What does it mean to be part of the Mayhem squad?

Work hard. Keep your head up. But have fun doing it.

 

Do you have an MVP so far? Any rising stars we should take note of?

We've had a new MVP each week, which is great. Mayhem has many experienced players to rely on, as well as new, young legs to keep us going. It's been a team effort, really. But yeah, take note of us all, we're pretty awesome.

 

You finally broke the Hudson Jinx against Midges and put some points on the board, how did that feel?

It was good, but the celebrations were short; we are still working on the Bisset Jinx.

 

Which team has been the most fun to play against?

I had been looking forward to playing Midges since I was one of them last season. But all the teams have great spirit, so every game has been enjoyable.

 

Irn Cru are still sitting pretty at the top but looking slightly vulnerable after last week's defeat. How do you plan to attack them this Sunday?

Asif has been quite intense on preparation so far, and it's paid off, clearly. But only 3 Reds showed up last week. Mayhem has been winging it, but we've been fielding a team every week. I feel that's a decent start.
