Carol Moore

Carol started playing Ultimate in1999 at Glasgow Uni with Far Flung. Since then she has played with many clubs and started up Iceni womens team in London whom she captained and went on to win European club championships with. She has competed at international level with GB mixed, GB women and the World Games squad. She retired from playing in 2008 but has since coached the GB womens team at World Championships in Japan. Carol will be running a session on how to play man defense.

We have enlisted some of the top Ultimate coaches in Scotland to help teach us basic Ultimate skills and fundamentals. Our coaching team has a wealth of playing and coaching experience at university, club and international level. We will be unveiling our coaches in the coming weeks.

COACHES

Shaun Webb

Shaun is currently a player and coach at Glasgow Ultimate and has over 12 years of ultimate experience. He has played, captained and coached teams to national championships and competed at European and World club championships. Shaun will be teaching catching skills and demonstrating the art of "laying out" or diving to catch the disc.

Kirsty Thompson

Kirsty is a Glasgow based player currently plying her trade with the Scottish womens club team SWIFT. She has won a national championship and played at university and club level in womens and mixed divisions. Kirsty also started the womens team at Glasgow University in 2003. She will be showing us how to mark a player with the disc, otherwise known as setting a "force".

Barry O'Kane

Barry began his Ultimate career in 1993 and is now in to his 20th playing year. Throughout that time he has represented GB and played club ultimate at just about every major championship in the UK and worldwide. He is a long standing member of the UK Ultimate association and host of the Ultimate podcast UTalkRaw. Barry will be demonstrating how to throw while being marked, also known as "breaking the force". 

Mark Simpson

Mark has only been playing for a few years but has already been selected to represent GB at under 23 level. He began playing locally with Strathclyde University Dark Horses and will be travelling to Canada this summer to compete in the u23s World Championships. Mark will be showing us how to run or "cut" for the disc and focussing on how to sprint and turn effectively.

Philip Webb

Phil is a player and coach with Glasgow Ultimate and also coaches the local university teams.  He has several national titles to his name and played club ultimate at the top level. He recently competed at the World Championships in Japan with GB Masters. Phil will be running a session on basic throwing technique.

Graeme McDowell

Graeme has been a player and coach with Dundee University since 2005. During this time he has transformed Dundee in to one of the top university clubs in the UK and won multiple championships at student level. He has played for various top tier open and mixed clubs along with appearances for GB under 23 and beach mixed squads.

Jonathan Leach

Jon started his playing career at Glasgow university in the late 90s and captained the team to a double national championship. He went on to play club ultimate at the highest level in the UK and won a gold medal with GB at European championships. Jon will be working on more advanced throwing techniques.
